About PMC and the Hallmark process

In the 1990s Mitsubishi developed a material containing tiny particles of metal in a natural clay like substance.  This material has the properties of modelling clay but when the clay is burnt off 99.9% pure metal remains, silver or gold.

Using the Mitsubishi developed Precious Metal Clay (PMC) your’s or your child's finger is imprinted in the non toxic clay either in person or from the cast (from the mould made by you).  The clay is then shaped and your chosen wording is engraved by hand or imprinted onto the piece.

When fired, and the clay is burnt off shrinking by about 10%, a lasting treasure of your loved one is left in the form of a silver or gold charm.  All our pieces are strength fired for added durability. Your Tiny Treasure is then burnished, antiqued to show the lines and impressions in contrast or left as pure silver or gold on request.  The piece is tumbled and then hand polished before being shipped to be tested for purity and hallmarked by the assay office.  On return your piece is made up with your selected finding and packaged in a jewellery box and jewellery bag and delivered to you.

The standard UK hallmarks and those that appear on our Treasures are detailed on the British Hallmarking Council's Dealer's Notice
